Ind SA T 2 Preview: Equation Simple for Both Teams; Win Test; Become the No.1 Test Team

v

The India South Africa could not have become a simpler proposition for either team. Whichever team wins the second Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata will not only have the series to laud about but also, the top spot of the ICC Test rankings is theirs for the taking.
The enticing contest will reach an interesting ending after South Africa won the first Test in Nagpur in rather handsome fashion. While India will be boosted by the presence of V.V.S. Laxman at the ground where he broke Australia’s back, even India realize they will need more than just Laxman’s wrist action.
Harbhajan Singh will be in focus and there could well be a situation that may see Amit Mishra swapped for Pragyan Ojha. But perhaps the axe may weigh heavier on Ishant Sharma, especially when in contrast comparison to the ferocity of Dale Steyn. Sreesanth’s recovery gives him a chance and Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the Indian captain may not have it easy to decide on the line up. Although Suresh Raina is in the squad, he will perhaps have to wait longer to make his debut in Test cricket.
South Africa will not look to make too many changes so as not to break the momentum. Though Graeme Smith, the South African captain, has ruled himself in, South Africa will be in tenterhooks till the team takes the field with Smith in the line up as also Mark Boucher.
It’s time to make way for action on the field for the world’s no.1 Test team.
