Sachin Tendulkar was hailed yesterday for his twenty glorious years in international cricket. However, at Motera, he disappeared having scored just four runs. So, are the cudgels out?
Tendulkar’s innings lasted just four runs against Sri Lanka in the first Test in Ahmedabad. But what it really does is endorse Tendulkar’s views that India needs more Tests.
Sunil Gavaskar was commenting on air and he felt that Tendulkar was still playing in the one day mode. But can one blame him?
It has been a roller coaster year when team India has jumped from one tournament to another in a matter of days. In a span of four days, India were expected to change from the one day mode required for the India Australia ODI series to adapt to the Test match version, the last of which they played in February-March this year on India’s tour to New Zealand.
With this kind of erratic schedule, unforced errors are bound to come into the game. Luckily for India, Rahul Dravid was playing the longer version in the domestic circuit and was able to adjust to the demands despite not having played international cricket for India since being in New Zealand.
