Indian Cricketers’ Grade Contracts List Released

Yuvraj Singh

The Indian cricketers have largely benefitted from the year in which they won the ICC Cricket World Cup for only the second time in their history. Apart from Ashish Nehra, not too many Indian cricketers will be complaining about the brackets they find themselves in as the BCCI announced the graded contracts list.

The BCCI released the list of Indian cricketers with graded cricketers and it is not surprising to note the many movers and shakers. While the powerhouses occupied top slot, Yuvraj Singh finds himself shunted back to the top spot after spending a year outside the elite A Grade list. After his outstanding performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Yuvraj Singh is back amongst the big boys that includes Sachin Tendulkar, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, V.V.S. Laxman and the two openers, Virender Sehwag. Suresh Raina, Ishant and Virat Kohli round up the young guns while Zaheer Khan is being persistent while Harbhajan Singh is perhaps a tad lucky given that he seems to have fallen out of favour despite his reputation.

Grade A Players: Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma

Major elevations are of the order in Grade B as Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja – the three R’s – share space with Praveen Kumar and Pragyan Ojha – the two P’s.

Grade C includes a bunch of fringe players which is perhaps why it must be a tad annoying for Sreesanth and Munaf Patel to find themselves on this list and not making a greater effort to slot themselves higher.

Grace C: Sreesanth, Amit Mishra, Cheteshwar Pujara, Abhimanyu Mithun, Vinay Kumar , Ajinkya Rahane, Munaf Patel, M Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha, Parthiv Patel, S Badrinath, Manoj Tiwary, Piyush Chawla, Dinesh Karthik, Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav, Rahul Sharma, Varun Aaron
