Despite a lackluster performance in the second test in Mumbai, the board has not done any change in the team for the third test to be held in Kolkata. The test begins on 5th December and the under performing players have got another chance to prove their worth.
Umesh Yadav dropped
Umesh Yadav has been dropped owing to the injury and pacer Ashok Dinda has got a chance to prove his worth. Umesh Yadav has been ruled out from the third test due to a sore back. However, the selectors have sent a warning sign to the under performing players. This is evident from the fact that the team has been named only for the third test and not the entire series, as is the usual practice.
Sachin and Virat in a fix too
Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary all rounder is facing the toughest time his career. Under fire from all quarters, owing to his persistent poor performance in the current series, all eyes will be focused on him in the third series.
Virat Kohli, India’s best bet until the recent past is also facing tough times during the present series. Overanxious in his approach, his unsure footwork has caused unforeseen trouble for the Delhi all rounder.
Harbhajan Singh was too on selector’s radar after his poor performance in the Mumbai test. However, the selectors have given him another chance to prove his worth and the leg spinner will have to live up to the selector’s expectations and improve over his lack luster performance in the Mumbai test. Mahender Singh Dhoni is also under fire for not being able to utilize the skills of Zaheer Khan in the best possible manner.
Kolkata test will be a battle of nerves for the Indian team as they would want to have an upper edge in the series that is evenly poised with England wining the Mumbai test comfortably.
