The flagging Mumbai Indians were given a jolt of life against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in St. Georges Park, Port Elizabeth.
The Mumbai Indians, who came under severe criticism for leaving out Sanath Jayasuriya, brought back the veteran Sri Lankan. But after his cameo twenty-nine run start, it was Jean Paul Duminy and Ajinkya Rahane who set up the challenging total for the RCB team. Their 100 run partnership saw Duminy make fifty-nine runs from forty-one balls while Rahane made sixty-two from forty-nine.
Chasing 158 became a tricky proposition for the Royal Challengers as once again they lost four wickets in the first ten overs for just fifty-eight runs. Left with a daunting task ahead of them and Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid back in the pavilion, it became a struggle in vain for Vijay Mallya’s men who could only manage 121 runs in twenty overs and that too because of Mark Boucher’s sterlign efforts for his personal forty-eight, adding yet another loss against their name, which Mumbai kept their semi final hopes alive.
