Sourav Ganguly did not lose hope for the Kolkata Knight Riders as he steered his team to an exciting, comprehensive win over Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals, giving themselves an outside chance for a possible IPL 3 semi final berth.
Shane Watson’s forty-four runs went in vain as the Rajasthan Royals failed to produce a backup batsman on the day. In contrast, Ganguly wanted to steer the team onto the road of success himself and he was not going to take chances. entrusting the job to anyone else.
A spectacular innings of seventy-five runs from just fifty balls ensured that the KKR team finished their final winning run at Eden Gardens with virtually four overs to spare. A useful knock of forty-five from Chesteshwar Pujara in company with the skipper negated the loss of Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum in the chase for 133.
The day belonged to Jaidev Unadkat who used the opportunity to shine for the KKR team by bowling four overs for just twenty-six runs while picking up three crucial wickets including Naman Ojha and Yusuf Pathan to win the man of the match award.
