A visit to the temple proved successful for one Indian batsman, not for the other.
Sachin Tendulkar and V.V.S. Laxman decided to visit the Kalighat Temple while in Kolkata for the second Test at Eden Gardens for the India South Africa series. However, their different routes ensured that only one would be able to visit the temple.
Laxman entered through the VIP entrance while Sachin Tendulkar failed to secure entry after fans mobbed the area anticipating his coming. Given the massive crowd, Tendulkar found it impossible to go any further and was forced to return home without the darshan.
