Andrew Strauss, hailed as the calming influence who was thrust into the hot seat of England captain, has no problems with Pietersen who he said was a world class player and the person who would support him during his tenure.
Strauss was all praises for the former captain saying that he was thankful that Kevin had agreed to play in all forthcoming fixtures. Greatest player, supportive are the words used by him to describe Kevin saying that Kevin would have had his own reasons and what he did was the best for the England team. No problems as a player, best out of him and could work very closely -praises, praises all the way, a very calming influence indeed!
But that is not Nasser Hussein the former England captain thinks. As per him, Kevin choose the wrong time to fight, and as England Captain one needs to be savvy, streetwise and politically astute.
As per Nasser, Kevin as a boy challenged, pushed and confronted those round him whether it was at Natal or at Nottinghamshire. He was the one who the ECB knew would ask questions and also pull up people from underachieving. He is a single minded character and just wanted one thing the best for England team but he went about the wrong way
That is what he did but when he did the expected, they were not prepared to back him. If they had given him what he wanted he could have become the most powerful England skipper, a risk naturally not acceptable to ECB.
After giving ultimatums sitting on his elephant he should haven taken first flight back home and tried to play the game in the manner of seasoned politician. Instead he said something he shouldn’t have, did not say somethings which he should have, did not come back home and do something about it. Ultimately he lost his captaincy.
