McGrath Still a Question Mark on Cricket Future

It is a remarkable career of a remarkable man. Yet that he has been scheduled to the sidelines has been nothing short of ignominy to team strategy and to loss of the cricket world was brought to bear on the night that the Delhi Daredevils beat Wayamba in the Champions League Twenty20 in India.
Glen McGrath signed up for the Delhi Daredevils but played only in the inaugural IPL in India and was benched for the entire IPL 2 season in South Africa with Dirk Nannes preferred. With nearly eighteen months of no cricket whatsoever and sparse training perhaps, McGrath was blooded into the game in the CL T20 match against Wayamba with Delhi desperate to make the Super Eights. While Delhi have not yet sealed a berth, McGrath played a key role in their edging closer to it.
But once again, one has to wonder if McGrath will once again sit and if indeed one is seeing the final days of plying his cricket trade in international waters. If so, it is a rather sad moment given that McGrath did not look at all like someone who did not play the game at all in so long. A pointer to some of the members of teams such as India and South Africa who could not get it right in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009!
