Ashish Nehra held a press conference while Rohit Sharma opened up to a newspaper as the two Indian cricketers who returned from the 3010 ICC World Twenty20 branded talk of a pub brawl rubbish, denied there was an adverse Gary Kirsten report and dismissed that IPL was a detriment.
The fast medium bowler said he owed his second innings in the Indian team to the IPL, IPL 2 playing for the Delhi Daredevils. And that the IPL parties were more of a “sponsorship commitment”. He also denied that the Indian cricketers encountered rowdy fans, but rather it was only an exchange of words that was handled well. It was a statement corroborated by the team manager, Ranjib Biswas who submitted his report to the BCCI.
No signs yet of the Gary Kirsten report…although the players did state that the Indian coach had a one on one which was not uncommon with Gary.
Interestingly while the Indian cricketers seem to trying to win over the trial by media, the media gag seems only to apply to Kirsten.
