Even as the BCCI continues to receive flak for not sending an Indian team for the Asian Games in China, Pakistan have stated they are confirmed to participate.
Pakistan have already earmarked thirty probables for the Guangzhou Games and will be sending a team that will not be merely a figurehead representing Pakistan.
Javed Miandad, the director general for Pakistan Cricket Board who also happens to be the brand ambassador for China in the sphere of cricket, stated emphatically, The Asian Games is one of the biggest regional sporting events in the world and definitely our team will take part in it. Pakistan has excellent relations with China and we are doing our best to promote cricket in China and also provide them infrastructure and technical help. We see the Asian Games as a best possible platform for the sport to be promoted in China which has a viable commercial market for the sport.”
