A day after it was reported that the curator at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata was in a quandary over the pitch preparation, he has denied BCCI’s hand in requesting for a spinning track.
Prabir Mukherjee is now denying that the BCCI ever gave him direction on preparing a turning track. He even stated that Kolkata would keep its tradition of preparing a sporting track that assists pace as well as spin.
If the curator’s final word is to be believed, India may avoid the embarrassment they suffered two years ago when Green Park, Kanpur became the inglorious venue for the second Test of the India South Africa series 2008 when India, in a desperate bid to square the series, made a similar request and nearly faced the wrath of the ICC.
