Adam Gilchrist, the Australian wicketkeeper and batsman who has now since retired, yes the same Adam Gilchrist who in his autobiography True Colours had called Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan names regarding the Symonds’ incident, has now truly changed his colours.
Adam is being very caring and protective of the new batting sensation, the young David Warner. David showed great promise in his debut striking 80 runs off 43 balls against South Africa in Twenty20 match.
But unfortunately David, hailed as a new upcoming star in cricketosphere, was unable to give repeat performance. Here Adam has stepped in advising David not to think of his first debut knock while going in for batting in the third one day match against South Africa. Also like a counsellor giving advice to a nervous student, he told David not to think about the expectations which everyone has from him. He should not carry the burden of expectations on the pitch tomorrow.
Very sagely he told David that it is not possible to play excellently every time and make runs,it does not work every time.
Relax, play as naturally as he normally does and then there will be runs and runs, was the veteran’s advice.
It is heartening to know that Australians have their better side be it Ponting or Gilchrist, so what if they only show it to their own team members.
