Pawar Holds Meeting with ECB, PCB, ICC; Says England Pakistan ODI Series “Will Continue”

The ICC President, Sharad Pawar, address a press conference, suggesting that the England Pakistan ODI series would go on and that until the investigations were over, they were not willing to implicate any Pakistan cricketer yet.
Pawar spoke thus, “I had a detailed conference call with Giles Clarke, the England and Wales Cricket Board ( ECB ), Ijaz Butt, the Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB ) chairman, Alan Isaac, ICC Vice President, Haroon Lorgat, ICC CEO, and officials from ICC and the ICC Anti Corruption and Security Unit ( ACSU ).
“We discussed in depth about Pakistan players’ issue (with respect to the spot fixing and match fixing allegations in England). The police are in the process of investigation which is not completed. They have not called any players for interrogation. Unless and until the process of investigation is completed and we get prima facie report, it will be difficult for PCB to take appropriate action.
“As per our information from PCB chairman, he himself has inquired and prepared a confidential report which has been sent to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. He is expecting some guidances from the country’s leaders.
“In the ICC, we are waiting to get some detailed information from PCB and our own ACSU. We hope to get something in the next 2-3 days’ time and that information will lead to take appropriate action if required.”
When queried about the future of the ODIs series coming up, Pawar stated, “It is the desire of the ICC, the ECB and the PCB that the series should continue.”
When asked about the possibility of an Indian link, Pawar flatly denied the presence of it. He also refused to speculate on what action may be taken if the investigations implicate any player.
