Pakistan’s attempts to reach an out of court settlement with the ICC involve another twist. Meanwhile Pakistan are threatening that the World Cup may have to be cancelled if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not get permission to tour India for the 2011 World Cup.
The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman,Ejaz Butt, is expected to meet the ICC President, David Morgan, over signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which would mean that Pakistan would no longer pursue legal action against the ICC for shifting its 2011 World Cup matches to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh following the terror attacks.
Now the board also wants to push the ICC to review the security arrangements early next year in 2010 before passing its final verdict of not allowing Pakistan to host the matches.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)has also stated that it will be seeking the Pakistan government’s permission for the Pakistan team to come to India to play the World Cup matches. However, should that not be ratified, Pakistan may be forced to pull out or the World Cup will have to be cancelled altogether.
In the meantime, Javed Miandad, the Director General of Cricket in Pakistan will also double up as batting coach of the Pakistan team, thereby pipping the other popular name of Saeed Anwar.
