The series has been lost, the Indians have had to concede Australia outplayed them. But Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain, is not content. Why is it not surprising?
The Australian captain is rather proud of his team’s achievements but he is not willing to let them take their foot off the accelerator. Injuries or no injuries, Australia played tough, won the game on the big points and now stand to finish it off at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai tomorrow to take the seris 5-2 rather than 4-3.
For India though, it will be like a deflated affair, knowing the series was lost but with the knowledge that there was so much more India could have done. For India, it becomes imperative to get confidence going again because although Sri Lanka’s tour to India starts with a Test series, it is good to go in with the head held high.
