Sachin Tendulkar came to the rescue of his Indian team mates even as the Indian coach dug into the Indian cricketers over their performances in the Caribbean int he 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
Tendulkar tried to defend the performances of the Indian cricketers, “There will be ups and downs but you just have to have your faith in players because the same lot got us the World Cup. We should not forget that we are still the number one team in the world.”
He also paid tribute to the efforts of the cricketers, “The players have been training hard. They know and understand their responsibilities. Sometimes things click, sometimes not.”
He adds, “All I can say is that the players need support so that they can start fresh again and look to deliver better results. I know it’s disappointing but it has not happened for the first time and it would not be the last time either. The game has its uncertainties. We have to see how we can do better.”
He did not want to be too critical of the IPL and its effect, stating it could be a good vehicle to get out of form players back into form.
