Sachin Tendulkar is making some rather forthright remarks, and indirectly has suggested that Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s excuses about the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 in relation to the IPL parties does not hold water.
Tendulkar was inaugurating a hospital set up by Lata Mangeshkar. Speaking to reporters, Sachin Tendulkar put forth his view that international cricketers cannot give excuses about the IPL parties as they were during the IPL 3 becoming tiresome.
Tendulkar said, “Parties and performance are two different things that cannot be related and every player should know his responsibility. I did not go for any of the IPL parties. I always wanted to be ready for the next match.”
Tendulkar also stressed on the importance of physical fitness, stating that that alone would add greatly to mental fitness and improve confidence. He emphasized that players needed to understand their respective body and know to what level they can push themselves and also, when it is important to be match ready.
