Count on Shahid Afridi to find the most unsuspecting place to plead his victim stance in the ball tampering episode.
After Imran Khan, the former Pakistan captain, stated that the Pakistan all rounder had received enough punishment following his ball biting episode in Australia during the Pakistan Australia series, Afridi himself believes a witch hunt is on against him.
Afridi says he has served out his punishment of a two Twenty20 match ban and that he is receiving unnecessarily too much flak for a mistake he committed in a moment of “deep frustration”. He also retorted that other players had got away in days earlier because of the lack of technology with television cameras.
Stating that it was time he was forgiven, he cited the case of the golfer, Tiger Woods, and said that after the public apology, Woods’ indiscretions would be forgotten and so should his.
