On a day of high emotion, the verdict was delayed but nevertheless in.
Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving terrorists from the group that invaded the shores of Mumbai on the dreadful night of 26/11 in 2008, was pronounced guilty in a trial seventeen months after the terror attack.
The fall out on the cricket world was not too far removed either from the horrendous and heinous attack, with England abandoning their tour of India and the Champions League Twenty20 due to start in less than a week was called off, even as it became apparent that the attack was as much on the foreigners in India as on Indian citizens itself.
England did eventually come back to complete the tour while the CL T20 took off a year later in 2009 in India. But the scars of that attack have left a raw nerve in the nation, one that keeps threatenign to affect all life, not just sports events int he Indian sub continent.
