Younis Khan, Pakistan’s captain, has a tough task ahead of him, leading his team in a one day series against Australia. But he is hoping the presence of old hands will do the trick.
Pakistan are in a tricky position. At the moment, the captain is vocal about the series. But Pakistan are currently only training for the series in UAE/Dubai while Australia are actually getting their share of the match practice through the series in South Africa. But Younis Khan believes his big performers will help Pakistan beat Australia.
Younis is counting on Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi to come to the party in Dubai and light up the fireworks. While he considers Afridi perfect as a man for the “big” game, he has also urged Shoaib Akhtar to put his team and himself in perspective. While he is disinclined to put any further pressure on either of the two, Younis believes that they will shine through when the hour of need arises.
He is also ecstatic over the inclusion of off spinner Saeed Ajmal and thinks his team may just have a stock weapon with Australia struggling sometimes against quality spinners.
With all rounders loaded in his side in former captain Shoaib Mallik, Shahid Afridi and Sohail Tanvir who performed impressed for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, Younis believes he has everything he needs to counter the Australians. It appears the Pakistan captain is now eager to put plans to execution.
