Trust Pakistan cricket to find controversy at every bend. The news of Younis Khan making it back into the Pakistan team has hardly died down before the Pakistan ODI and Twenty20 captain has broken the peace once more.
It seems issues revolving the key Pakistan cricketers will never be thoroughly and emphatically resolved. The injury to Mohammad Yousuf following a tear in a muscle in his leg was met by the Pakistan Cricket Board suddenly having a change of heart about Younis Khan with whom relations have been strained following a ban.
Younis Khan has now been named in the Pakistan ODI squad to face South Africa in the UAE. While the move has generally been welcomed all round with a view to bolster the Pakistan batting line up, apparently the decision was not greeted with the same favour by the Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, and the Pakistan coach, Waqar Younis, according to some reports from Pakistan, who are reportedly upset because they preferred Shoaib Mallik, who struggled in England, to provide the resources in the shorter format of the game.
In the mean time, Younis Khan cannot consider himself safely back in the scheme of things just yet not only because the selectors supporting him over the team management but also, because he will still need to prove himself before he is considered for the Test series to follow.
